Each morning, you send your son or daughter to our school.  They are greeted by the one of the most qualified teams of instructors that I have ever had the privilege of being a part of.  When I was young, I never thought of my teachers going to college, or more accurately, how long they went to college; I just kind of thought that once they became teachers, they stopped being students.   Instead, most teachers either have a Masters’ Degree, or are working on a Masters’ Degree. Highlights of the quality here at South Valley:

• 18 of 22 or 82% of the Instructional staff have a Masters’ Degree.
• One staff member has 2 Masters’ Degrees.
• Two staff members are currently or will be working on a doctorate.
• Three teachers have 75 or more semester hours above their current degree.
• Three teachers have or will have an ESL endorsement.
• Three teachers are Nationally Board certified Instructors.

Additionally, teachers and para-educators are required to continually take classes to update their certification, or become more qualified. I guess the bottom line is that the teachers at South Valley Middle School are experts in their field.  Most of the staff is here well before the first student shows up and I know that I have gone home saying good night to staff members who are still here, grading papers, planning lessons, or making parent contacts.
