South Valley Middle School is located in the friendly rural setting of Platteville, Colorado and is part of Weld County's School District RE-1. South Valley services both the town and surrounding rural area and has an approximate student population of 225 students in grades 6 through 8.
Platteville is situated on the eastern plains of Colorado about an hour's drive east of the Rocky Mountains. As such, it is located on the Platte River in agriculturally rich Weld County. Platteville is centrally located on Colorado State highway 85, well within easy commuting distance to metropolitan Denver and Denver International Airport (to the south), the communities of Boulder and Longmont (to the west) and the towns of both Greeley, Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming (to the north).
